Daniel Fish - THE DOLLAR GENERAL

March 10, 2012

video still | Daniel Fish

On Saturday March 10 @ 8pm, The Chocolate Factory will host a screening of Daniel's film THE DOLLAR GENERAL. Shot in an abandoned Ford dealership in upstate New York, THE DOLLAR GENERAL chronicles one building's transition from mid-twentieth century auto business to twenty-first century Dollar Store. Inspired by works by John Milton and Clifford Odets, THE DOLLAR GENERAL examines capitalism, entertainment, and inequality in America through the obsessions of artists and intellectuals. The film features Thomas Jay Ryan (HENRY FOOL, FAY GRIM) and an ensemble of New York City's top stage actors. But the building itself is at the center as the sad star of the film. Watch the trailer.
